What are the different types of statuses under Live Activities

The following statuses indicate the progress of restore operations under Live Activities:

  • Running: The restore process is actively in progress.

  • Queued: The restore process is in the queue and will be executed soon.

The status updates rely on Microsoft's response These statuses are designed to reflect real-time updates based on the Microsoft 365 Backup Storage API's queueing and operation initiation processes.


How do we access the restored data for 'Restore as New'?

SharePoint

Follow these steps to view the content of a restored site in the SharePoint Admin Center:

  1. Step 1: Navigate to the SharePoint Admin Center
    Open the SharePoint Admin Center Console.

  2. Step 2: Access Active Sites
    In the left-hand menu, click on Sites and then select Active sites.

  3. Step 3: Search for the Site
    Use the search bar at the top of the page to type the name of the site you’re looking for.

  4. Step 4: Locate the Original and Restored Site URLs
    Once you find the site, you will see both the URL for the original site and the URL for the restored site, which is appended by R0.

  5. Step 5: Open the Restored Site

    Copy the URL for the restored site.

    Paste it into your browser's address bar to access the content of the restored site.


📝Note: During the initial restore, the SharePoint site URL is appended with R0. For subsequent restores, the URL is appended with R1, R2, and so on. For example: https://abc.sharepoint.com/personal/[site name]R0/


OneDrive

Follow these steps to view the content of a restored site in the SharePoint Admin Center:

  1. Step 1: Navigate to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center
    Open the Microsoft 365 Admin Center Console.

  2. Step 2: Access Active users
    In the left-hand menu, click on Users and then select Active users.

  3. Step 3: Search for the User
    Use the search bar at the top of the page to type the name of the user you’re looking for.

  4. Step 4: Navigate to OneDrive
    Click on the user account in the interface. On the details card that appears, click OneDrive to open the user's OneDrive profile.

  5. Step 5: Generate a Link to the Files
    Under the Get Access to Files section, select Create Link to Files.
    A link will be generated, granting access to the files.

  6. Step 6: Open the Restored OneDrive Site
    Copy the URL for the restored OneDrive site and Paste the URL into your browser's address bar.

  7. Append the URL with R0 to access the content of the restored site.


    📝Note: During the initial restore, the SharePoint site URL is appended with R0. For subsequent restores, the URL is appended with R1, R2, and so on. For example: https://abc.sharepoint.com/personal/[site name]R0/


How much time will it take to perform a restore for SharePoint Site or OneDrive?

The restore process for a SharePoint Site or OneDrive typically takes over 1 hour to complete.

What will happen to my existing data for in place restore for SharePoint or OneDrive?

The existing data is overwritten with the data from the snapshot.
