iPhone: Troubleshooting inSync

Summary

If you face any of the below issues while using the app, you could verify the corresponding steps to resolve the issue:

Why am I unable to log in?

If you receive an error stating"Invalid user name or password", check that:

a. The password for your account has not been changed from any of your other backed up devices.
b. You have entered the password exactly as given in the activation email (if this is the first time you are logging in to your account).

If you receive an error stating "Could not connect to server", check with your Administrator for the following:

a. The IP address that you should enter in the Server URL field. (Your inSync administrator may have changed this value.)
b. The correct port value you need to enter in the Server URL field. (Check with your inSync administrator if you are not sure.)
c. The version of the inSync server you are trying to connect to. If it is less than inSync 4.5, you will need to upgrade the inSync Server.

Administrators need to check if the Webrestore IP address setting is the same as the inSync backup server IP address.

​Another common reason could be a problem with the Wi-Fi connection of your phone. When there is no Wi-Fi, inSync operates in the offline mode. The app will log you in automatically when the Wi-Fi becomes available.


Why am I unable to download a file?

  • Check that the size of the file you are downloading is not more than 50 MB. This is the limit inSync sets on files being downloaded to the iPhone.

  • If your inSync backup server version is 4.5, this limit is 20 MB. Check with your inSync administrator.

  • Another reason could be that theCache Limityou have set is lower than the file size being downloaded. You can change this by tappingMy Accountand then tappingCache Limit. See Account Settings.

  • Check your iPhone's Wi-Fi connection.

Why does my Backup Status show "Last backup unsuccessful"?

  • Check your iPhone's Wi-Fi connection.

  • Contact your administrator to check if contents on your iPhone (Photos, Videos, and Contacts) are configured for backup.

  • The administrator may have disabled your iPhone from being backed up on the inSync server.

  • Your backup server may not be reachable over the internet.

Why am I unable to restore my data?

  • Check the Wi-Fi connection of your iPhone.

  • Check if the administrator has disabled your iPhone device on the inSync server.

  • Your backup server may not be reachable over the internet.
