Monitor Amazon EFS Jobs

The EFS Jobs page on your management console serves as a centralized dashboard for monitoring all UI-triggered scheduled tasks and maintenance activities. Each job is identified by a unique Job ID and holds a specific status, and the job progress can be tracked via the progress log.

To access Jobs, navigate to Monitor > Jobs from the top menu bar. Click EFS from the left pane.

Field

Description

Job ID

A unique identification number associated with the job.

Job Type

The type of job operation, such as Backup, Restore, and Log Request.

Backup Set

The EFS backup set for which the job was initiated.

File System

The Amazon Elastic File System for which the job was initiated.

Start Time

End Time

The time when the job was initiated, and the time when the operation stopped.

Status

The status of the job. For more information, see Job Status.

Filters

You can filter jobs by Job Type, Status, and Job Created In. You can apply one or more filters to view individual jobs and associated logs within the selected job category.

You can use one or more of the following filters:

  • Job Type: You can filter jobs by the following Job Types:

    • Backup

    • Restore

  • Job Status: The Status filter allows you to filter jobs based on their statuses.

    • Queued: The triggered jobs that are waiting to be processed.

    • Running: The jobs that are being processed.

    • Successful: The jobs processed without any errors.

    • Successful with errors: The jobs that are processed but have some errors.

    • Canceled: The jobs that were canceled.

    • Skipped: The jobs that did not start within the scheduled window because another job is in progress.

    • Backup window expired: The list of jobs that cannot be completed because the entire data set was not backed up within the specified duration, and a recovery point was not created.

    • Failed: The jobs that were not processed successfully.

      πŸ“ Note: A failed job is displayed with an error code. Hover on the error code to view the error message or click the error link to be redirected to the error documentation.


  • Jobs Started In: You can filter jobs that were initiated in the:

    • Last 24 hours

    • Last 7 days

    • Last 1 month

    • Date Range: Specify a custom date range.

Summary

Click the Job ID to view the job Summary and progress Logs. You may also review the job attempts to ascertain the specific step in which the job failed.

The Summary tab is divided into the following sections:

Job Details

The job Details provides a brief summary of the Job,

  • Job Type: The type of job executed, that is, Backup or Restore.

  • Backup Set: The EFS backup set for which the job was initiated.

  • File System: The Amazon Elastic File System for which the job was initiated.

  • Resource Type: Type of resource, for example, Amazon EFS.

  • Backup Policy: The backup policy associated with the backup set.

  • Start Time and End Time: The time when the job was initiated, and the time when the operation stopped.Time when the job started.

  • Status. You can view the job Status, and ascertain the backup and restore job progress with the percentage completion.

Data Estimation

The data estimation section provides information on source files for Backup jobs.

  • Source Data Scanned: The amount of data scanned at the source for the backup.

  • # Files Added: The total number of files that were added as compared to the previous backup.

  • # Files Modified: The total number of files that changed as compared to the previous backup.

  • # Files Removed: The total number of objects that were removed as compared to the previous backup.

  • Time Taken for Estimation: The approximate time taken to scan the data. This estimated time does not include network retry time.

  • File Size Distribution: The percentage of the files backed up based on their sizes. The percentages are marked with the following file size ranges:

    • 0-1KB

    • >1-10KB

    • >10-100KB

    • >100KB-1MB

    • >1-16MB

    • >16MB

Data Transfer

The Data Transfer section provides information on backup speeds and bandwidth for Backup jobs:

  • Data Transferred to Cloud (in GB): The incremental data backed up to Cloud post deduplication and compression.

  • Backup Duration: The total time taken to upload data to Cloud. Backup duration excludes the estimation time and network retry time.

  • Backup Speed: The rate at which the data is uploaded to Storage.

Logs

Administrators can monitor progress of the backup and restore jobs using the progress logs generated during the job. Log files help analyze and troubleshoot issues encountered while performing a task. You can share the logs with the Support team to aid in issue resolution.
