Microsoft Active Directory Overview page

If you could install and activate the agent, register the AD Domain, and configure a backup, you can see the Microsoft Active Directory > All Domains page with a list of all Active Directory Domains.

Overview of the All Domains Page

This page acts as a central dashboard for your organization's domains. A Domain is essentially a group of computers and users on your network.

The All Domains page includes two tabs that provides details of the registered and configured domains.

  • Registered Domains: Domains are added and registered for backup, but the backup configuration may be incomplete - Not Configured state.

  • Configured Domains: Domains configured for data backup

Registered Domains tab

This tab provides details of all the registered domains.

  • Name: The display name of the domain (e.g., Domain1).

  • Hostname: The specific name of the server that is managing that domain.

  • Forest: Think of this as the "parent group." Multiple domains can belong to the same Forest (e.g., capCorp.local).

  • FSMO Role: Technical roles assigned to the server. You generally don't need to change these; they just indicate what the server is responsible for.

  • Client Version: Active Directory client version details.

  • Connection Status: * A Green Checkmark means the system is communicating perfectly with the domain.

    • A Red X means there is a connection issue that needs to be fixed.

  • Configuration Status: The domain configuration status:

    • Configured: The domain is set up and ready for backups.

    • Not Configured: The domain is registered but hasn't been fully set up for backup.

Key Actions from Registered Domains tab

  • Registering a New Domain: If you have a new domain to add:

    • Click the Register New Domain button in the top right corner.

    • Follow the prompts to enter the requested details.

  • Preparing a Domain for Backup: To ensure your data is safe, you must Configure a domain for backup

    • Click the checkbox next to a domain name that says Not Configured and click Configure for Backup.

  • Searching for a Domain: If you have a long list of domains, use the Search Bar on the right side to type in the name of the domain you are looking for.

  • Re-Register a Domain: To register the disconnected Domain. Click more options beside Configure for Backup to re-register your Domain. For re-registration, a reactivation token is generated. The remaining steps are similar to registration of a domain.

  • Delete Domain: Select the Domain that you want to delete. From the three dots menu, click Delete. Enter the reason for deletion and click Delete. (the reason is mandatory with a character limit between 10-150.

  • Filters: Search and filter the registered domains list based on Forest and Configuration Status.

Configured Domains tab

This tab provides details of all the Domains that are protected and configured for backup.

  • Hostname: The specific name of the server being backed up (e.g., ADTHANOS1).

  • Forest: The larger network group that the domain belongs to (e.g., capCorp.local).

  • Backup Data: The total size of the data currently stored in your backups.

  • Backup Enabled: The status of backup configuration for the Domain. A green checkmark means the automated backup schedule is active.

  • Last Backup Status: Shows if the most recent backup was successful for Granular Backup and System State Backup. You can click the Job Id for tracking purposes.

Key Actions from Configured Domains tab

On the top left of the table, you will see several buttons that allow you to manage your backups:

  • Backup Now: If you have just made major changes to your network and don't want to wait for the next scheduled backup, select a Domain and click this to start an immediate manual backup.

  • Restore: If data is lost or corrupted, this button allows you to recover from a safe snapshot

  • Register New Domain: Located at the top right, use this button if you need to add a new Domain.

  • Search for a Domain: If you have a long list of domains, use the Search Bar on the right side to type in the name of the domain you are looking for.

  • Filters: Search and filter the configured domains list based on Forest, status of backup configuration for the Domain, Granular Last Backup Status, and System State Last Backup Status - Successful, Failed, Backed Up With Errors, Never Backed Up.

  • Enable or Disable Backup: Select the Domain for which you want to enable or disable backup. From the three dots menu, click Enable or Disable. A confirmation dialog box appears. Click Enable or Disable.

  • Delete Domain: Select the Domain that you want to delete. From the three dots menu, click Delete. Enter the reason for deletion and click Delete. (the reason is mandatory with a character limit between 10-150.

View details of a specific configured Domain

To get more details of a specific Domain, click Domain Name on the Configured Domains tab. This Domain details page has two tabs:

Summary

This tab provides:

  • Information about your Active Directory Domain under the Details card.

  • Last backup status under the Backup Summary card.

  • Your backup configuration under the Backup Settings card. This card provides an option to edit your backup settings.

  • A chart on the backups that Druva ran in the last seven days under the Backup Trend card.

Backups

This tab provides a list of all snapshots and some information about each one of them. You can either select a screenshot to restore data from it, or click on it to see the snapshot viewer that provides options for granular data restore.
