Overview
As an administrator, you might need to remotely start a backup for a user device. The time required to back up data from the device depends on the amount of data that inSync is backing up. If it is the first backup from the user's device or if it is the first update after you changed the storage for the user, inSync takes a full backup. In such cases, it might take longer for the backup to complete.
Procedure
To start a backup for a user device
On the inSync Management Console menu bar, click Devices.
Select the device that you want to back up.
Click Backup Now.
How can I do a one full backup of an endpoint device without creating a new profile?
In Druva inSync, you do not need to create a new profile or alter existing policies to run an immediate, manual backup for an endpoint device.
You can initiate a one-off manual backup either as an Administrator or directly from the user's device:
Option 1: From the Druva Management Console (Admin)
Log in to the Druva Cloud Platform Console.
Navigate to Endpoints (or inSync Client) from the workload menu.
Click on Devices in the left navigation panel.
Locate and select the check box next to the target endpoint device.
Click Backup Now at the top left of the table.
Confirm by clicking Backup Now in the pop-up modal.
The backup job will be queued immediately and can be tracked under Live Activities in the console.
Option 2: From the Endpoint Device (End-User / On-Site)
On Windows:
Open the inSync Client app from the Start menu or system tray icon, and click Start Backup. Alternatively, right-click the inSync icon in the Windows System Tray and select Start Backup.
On macOS:
Click the inSync icon in the macOS Menu Bar and select Start Backup.
