Order Snowball Edge device

This article describes the procedure to order a Snowball Edge device. Each Snowball Edge device has a storage capacity of approximately 80 TB. Ordering a Snowball Edge device is a service that is charged separately and is not a part of the standard Druva subscription. Contact the Sales team for more details.

Supported AWS regions

You can order a Snowball Edge device in the following AWS regions:

  • US East (North Virginia)

  • US East (Ohio)

  • US West (North California)

  • US West (Oregon)

  • South America (Sao Paulo)

  • EU (Frankfurt)

  • EU (Ireland)

  • EU (London)

  • EU (Paris)

  • Asia Pacific (Tokyo)

  • Asia Pacific (Sydney)

  • EU (Stockholm)

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Management Console.

  2. On the menu bar, click All Organizations.

  3. On the Manage menu, click AWS Snowball Edge.
    The AWS Snowball Edge page appears.
    If there is no request initiated for Snowball Edge, you can follow the Workflow diagram to create a new request. However, if a request is already created, you can view the details of the request.

  4. Click Request Snowball Edge or New Request.
    Note: The button changes based on the first request or a subsequent request.

  5. Enter the details in the following sections.
    ​Note that the Available Capacity field displays the storage capacity of each Snowball Edge device (approximately, 80 TB).

    • Snowball Edge Details

      • Purpose: In the drop-down list, select data seeding as the purpose of using the Snowball Edge device.

      • Target AWS region: In the drop-down list, select the relevant AWS Snowball Edge region.

      • Devices: Select the number of Snowball Edge devices that you want to request.

      • Available Capacity: The field displays the default storage capacity of the Snowball Edge device (approximately 80 TB).

    • Snowball Edge Shipping Details

      • Street

      • City

      • State

      • Country

      • Zip Code

      • Email ID

      • Phone Number

  6. Click Request.
    A confirmation dialog box appears to ensure that you want to place the request.

  7. Click Yes to place the request.
    A request for a new Snowball Edge is created, and details are added to the AWS Snowball Edge page.

    The various fields listed on this page are as follows:

    • Request ID: This is a unique identification number, which is generated after the new request is created on the Management Console

    • Purpose of Use: The purpose that you selected for requesting the Snowball Edge device. The default purpose is Data Seeding.

    • Snowball Edge ID: This is the unique job identification number of the Snowball Edge device, which is generated after the request is created.

    • Target AWS region: This is the AWS Snowball Edge region, which is selected for backing up your data.

    • Requested On: This is the date on which the request for a Snowball Edge device is created.

    • Status: This field displays the status of the order.

      The various possible statuses are as follows:

    • Request Received: This status message confirms that AWS has received the request for a Snowball Edge device.

    • In transit to Customer: This status message confirms that AWS has shipped the requested Snowball Edge device to the specified shipping address and is currently in transit.

    • Delivered to Customer: This status message confirms that the Snowball Edge device is delivered to the specified address.

    • Configured for Seeding: This status message confirms that the Snowball Edge device has been configured for seeding by the customer.

    • Ready to ship back: This status message confirms that the Snowball Edge device is ready to be sent back to AWS.

    • In transit to AWS: This status message confirms that the Snowball Edge device has been shipped back to AWS by the customer and is currently in transit. When the Snowball Edge device is in transit, the restore to any location fails.

    • Copying Data to Cloud: This status message confirms that AWS is in the process of moving the data to Cloud. At this stage, the restores to any location might fail depending on the data availability in Cloud.

    • Verifying Imported Data: This status message confirms that Druva is verifying the data imported to the Cloud.

    • Data Successfully Imported: This status message confirms that your data has been successfully imported.
