AWS S3 Airgap architecture

The architecture and data flow across components within Druva’s infrastructure and the customer’s environment is illustrated below.

Components within Druva and Customer infrastructure

  • Customer AWS

    • CR CloudFormation Template - A template that creates the CloudRanger (CR) resources in the customer AWS account.

    • Installed CR S3 Data Role - Allows the CR to perform backup or restore operations on the customer's AWS S3 bucket.

    • Installed Orchestration Role - Allows the CR to perform orchestration operations on the customer's AWS S3 bucket.

    • Protected S3 bucket - A bucket that is protected by the CR.

  • Druva Cloud Storage - Druva's AWS endpoint that is used to store the customer data.

    • Customer Key - Key to encrypt the customer data.

    • Customer installed block storage - A block storage that is used to store the customer's data.

  • Druva Proxy Agents - Perform backup/restore operations on the customer data.

    • Druva data role - Allows Druva to perform backup/restore operations on the customer data.

    • Druva data proxy instance - Proxy instance to perform backup/ restore operations on the customer data.

  • Druva Storage Engine - Druva storage engine to store the customer data.

    • Storage API - API that is used to move data between the customer data and the Druva Cloud Storage.

    • Deduplication Engine - Module that performs deduplication of the customer data.
